STEAM TEAM FOR KIDS

About Us

We are a Los Angeles–based, student-led program dedicated to making science, technology, engineering, art, and math engaging and accessible for young students. We aim to inspire every K–5 student to explore and discover their own passion for STEAM.

Through creative, hands-on experiments that connect real-world problem-solving with creativity and play, our high school mentors turn complex ideas into interactive learning experiences that spark curiosity and confidence.

Meet the Team!

Our Founders!

Some of Our Leads!

Sophia J 25’

Sophia Jones is a student currently at UC Berkeley. She's majoring in electrical engineering and computer science. She started the STEAM Team originally to teach kids how to code, but grew it to incorporate a variety of topics in STEAM so kids could find out what they're interested in, and not be discouraged from going into STEM fields later on.

Lucas F 26’
Lucas is a current senior at the Geffen Academy at UCLA with plans to major in education. He currently works with K–5 students as a camp counselor and strives to bring energy, creativity, and enthusiasm to every lesson. His ability to connect with younger students helps make each activity both engaging and productive, and he’s very popular amongst our students.

Sophia H 25’
Sophia is currently a freshman at UC Irvine who is passionate about both giving back to the community and the STEM field. Her favorite subject in school currently is history. Some of her interests include playing sports and community work. She recently volunteered at her elementary school, creating and teaching a history curriculum for kindergarten students. Her goal is to continue to work closely with other members of the STEAM Team to continue to create fun learning experiences for kids interested in the program.

Liam D 26’
Liam is a current senior at the Geffen Academy at UCLA with a passion for biology. He plans to pursue a career in the medical field. He joined the STEAM Team to make science more approachable for younger students. Liam’s goal is to inspire curiosity and show how creativity and science work together to make learning exciting.

Ben F 27’

Ben is a current junior at New West Charter high school who is very passionate about helping other students and soccer. He plays division 3 high school soccer and is looking to get into different colleges through the sport. He has plans on double majoring in business and political science and has had previous work with helping kids in temple Isiah camp and tutoring elementary school students from Westwood Charter.

Alex R 26’
Alex Rosen is a current senior at Geffen Academy at UCLA. He plans to major in business or the social sciences and minor in environmental science. Inspired by his own experiences with science programs in elementary school, he co-founded The STEAM Team to share that same sense of curiosity with younger students. In addition to expanding the curriculum to include physics and the life sciences, Alex oversees the program’s operations and overall growth.

Gavin T 26’
Gavin is currently a senior at the Geffen Academy at UCLA with interests in history and economic theory, and hopes to pursue a career in financial technology. He has experience working with children as a surf camp counselor, where he’s developed effective youth communication skills. As a member of the STEAM Team, he’s been a core part of designing lessons that cover basic real-world math concepts.

Daniel Z 27’
Daniel is a current junior at the Geffen Academy at UCLA with interests in economics and psychology. He plans to major in microeconomics and eventually pursue a career in the field. He has experience tutoring children from China, T1 schools, and local areas, working with students aged 8 to 16. Daniel’s motivation for joining the team was that he lacked proper STEM opportunities in elementary school and wanted to provide that experience for younger kids.

Eliana C 27’
Eliana is a dedicated student-athlete at Palisades High School. At school, she participates in the soccer and softball teams as well as baseball, managing all while leading a club that explores culture around the world. With a strong passion for math and science, Eliana aspires to pursue a future career in the medical field. She loves working with children; through her summer soccer camp, she combined her love for the sport with leadership skills.

Leo P 26’
Leo is an incoming freshman at the University of Chicago, where he plans to major in philosophy. He’s passionate about exploring ethics, logic, and the intersections between science and human thought. As a longtime member of The STEAM Team, Leo has helped make challenging concepts more approachable for young students, encouraging them to think critically and ask big questions about the world around them.
